Ganxi Village connects agriculture with culture and tourism

Ganxi Village in Baojing County has won a number of honorary titles, such as the “Provincial Rural Revitalization Demonstration Village” and the “Provincial Ethnic Rural Revitalization Pilot Village”, for its clean and tidy environment and harmonious and friendly local customs. The village also has a time-honored history and a number of cultural relic sites. In January 2011, the Luopu Ancient Town site was listed as a key cultural relic site under provincial-level protection.

Rural tourism is a key driver of the integration of agriculture, culture and tourism. Ganxi Village has a blueprint to develop the industries of agriculture, leisure, sightseeing and healthcare. It has built a leisure sightseeing agriculture park integrated with picking, sightseeing and science popularization, has started construction on a “rural happy valley” for children, held agricultural festivals periodically across the four seasons and developed rural tourism products, such as fruit and vegetable picking and study tours. Based on its natural resources, the village has also developed industries related to leisure, sports and nursing for the elderly. Fenghuang Mountain offers visitors a wide-range of outdoor activities, including climbing, camping and mountain cycling.

Currently, the village is building a hostel industry to attract different consumer groups, training professional staff for rural tourism, improving the tourism management ability, developing local resources, and exploring the new model of village-based study tours.

In the future, Ganxi will further construct village scenic areas, agritainment and hostels to connect local agriculture with culture and tourism.
